Sunday I went Filipino Independence Day Festival, Civic Center Plaza, SF. It appeared to be pretty popular and the crowd really liked the entertainment. Unfortunately it was not in English...
I did have some interesting food. I did not think to take pic of the food which I regret now : ( Anyway, I had Lechon which is roasted pig. I really liked the Karioka, recipe in link, for a chewy fried dessert. Ube ice cream was very good, light in flavor like red bean ice cream. Halo-Halo was a fun mix of Ube ice cream, milk, & fruit/veggies: banana, coconut, tropical fruit, corn, red & white beans...different but good : ) And some sort of noodle with pork and maybe fish sauce? It was okay after you get over the strong taste in the first few bites. I didn't have much for fear of shrimp allergy.
