Accidental Experiment

On Sunday I conducted an experiment on accident with my Ritalin. I was up early, after a not-too-late evening of catering, Sunday morning to make a phone call. I tried and couldn't fall asleep after then had to rush to get over to the East bay. I didn't realize I hadn't taken my Ritalin then I wanted to take it with some food so I didn't take my first dose until 1:30 pm Sunday. For the last several weeks I have been taking 5mg at 10am and 4pm.

In the morning I didn't really notice any effects from not taking the Ritalin. Once I took it I felt energized like usual. Once I fought the traffic back from the East Bay (which is horrible on the weekends) my friend and I went the the Filipino Independence day festival. Then for a dog hike at Fort Funston. At the end of the hike I was feeling unwell. I was slightly nauseous, my head hurt, all the muscles around my eyes ached, and I was sooooo tired. I realized that my Ritalin had worn off. Just by not taking my Ritalin during the morning wore me out, from not focusing, so that I felt horrible once it wore off in the evening. When I take my Ritalin at 10am & 4pm I come off it around 9-10pm but I don't have any of these side effects. So I'm fairly certain it's not a physical dependence issue.

It's funny , I haven't had the tiredness, vision issues, eye muscle fatigue, and claustrophobia (motion sickness inside) for 2+ months now and I sort of forgot how horrible it really is! Another interesting thing is the Provigil, genius drug, seems to bring on these symptoms so I need a little more Ritalin on the days I take the Provigil. Seems a little odd and I'll mention to the ADD Psychiatrist next time. The Provigil is working though and I feel like I can think/learn like I used to be able to.
