So far the Ritalin is going well. We are increasing my dosage slowly to try a long-acting time-release version of Ritalin. My nervous system is really sensitive and it takes 1-2 weeks to get use to a higher dosage. And the dosage is not that big. Right now I've successfully upped it to 7.5mg. Most people are on 30+mg. Once I have taken 7.5mg all this week with no more side effects I will try the 10mg long acting dose. It is time released over 12 hrs.
The good side effects are: less fatigue, less motion sickness, less feeling overwhelmed, less feelings and physical symptoms of anxiety, less physical reactions to hunger & water consumption, less dread of future and more of a sense of hope to accomplish goals.
The doctor said a lot of the things listed above were actually my body's response to anxiety. And the anxiety was caused by my inability to focus and limit response to stimuli. All the energy I was using to control the excess stimuli my brain was receiving caused the fatigue, motion sickness, feeling overwhelmed, and dread of future/change.
No great sense of focus at work yet but I do want to really organize my office : )
On a slightly separate note: an interesting article about a test to spot inattentive employees...
